Due to our continued growth, we're looking for an experienced Construction Claims expert/Senior Planning Engineer to join our mighty team!

This current position is for a 3 month contract with an immediate start – but our business is thriving and there is high potential for the role to become permanent if you are the right person.

Reporting through to the Managing Director, this role will be responsible for analysing and preparing construction claims. It is a highly autonomous role, and requires a motivated self starter who has excellent time management, planning and communication skills.



Job tasks and responsibilities

Some of the key tasks are:

  • Analytic analysis of construction programmes
  • Produce and implement industry standard techniques such as Time Impact Analysis, As-Built v As-planned, Impacted As-Planned and Collapsed As-Built
  • Review, analyse and prepare extension of time and disruption claims including their associated costs
  • Review contract documents and investigate the impact of the special conditions on the claim
  • Review project correspondences (RFI's, CI's, Meeting Minutes, progress photos etc.) and identify delay and disruption events
  • Actively participate in product and skills training, including up skilling of other less experienced team members.
  • Ability to generate histograms, charts, and critical path analysis.

Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Excellent skills in using MS Project, Primavera P6, Power Point, Word, Excel.
  • 3D modelling using Sketchup or Revit, or CAD
  • Have good understanding and knowledge about 4D and 5D planning.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience using NZ standard contracts NZS3910
  • Excellent report (claims) writing skills
  • Superior communication skills
  • Excellent time management and procedural focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Must be able to work independently with very little supervision

Required Experience:

The successful candidate must have a degree or relevant qualification in Engineering, construction management, or a related field is a must.

Must be from the construction industry with minimum 10 years experience in one or more of the following:

  • Contract administration background
  • Quantity Surveying background
  • Scheduling & Planning
