Human Connections Group has partnered exclusively with Breen Construction for the appointment of an experienced Architectural Technician based in their Alexandra Head Office.

The Company

Breen Construction Ltd operate throughout the South Island with offices in Dunedin, Twizel, Oamaru, Wanaka, Cromwell and HQ based in Alexandra, Central Otago. The business has been privately owned and operated for over 75 years by the Breen family with family members still working hands-on within the operation.

This business has developed from grass roots into an established, reputable and well-known operation with over 140 staff located across the South Island. The operational hub of the business is in Alexandra, this is where functions such as administration, finance and health and safety are located as well as the base for the Estimating/Quantity Surveying team who support all locations. 

Project Managers are based throughout Otago and are an integral part of the management team each person taking responsibility for overseeing, managing and reporting on the progress of their individual projects.

Cloud based technology is used across the business from operational teams to foreman on site who use these tools to track progress, billable hours, raise purchase orders and communicate with head office. 
Alexandra is Head Office and is the hub of the operational activities for the business, so you will be required to spend most of your time in Alexandra and at times travel to other locations such as Cromwell, Wanaka, Queenstown, Oamaru, Twizel and Dunedin to maintain communication with areas managers and staff.

Breen works on a range of projects from small domestic jobs to high profile residential builds and large commercial work. As an Architectural Technician you will enjoy working on a variety of projects from community focused work to high end architecturally designed homes and large-scale commercial builds.

Job Requirements:

The Job
 
Your role as an Architectural Technician is responsible for producing Design and construction documentation for all levels and types of construction projects. You will produce scaled detailed drawings and associated documentation for Building Consent and construction purposes and ensure that projects are successful undertaken from the perspective of all project stakeholders. 
 
Duties & Responsibilities
 
• Interpret design brief and Concept information needed to prepare construction documentation 
• Undertake site Investigations and research Building / Resource Consent files to determine features or restrictions that may impact on the design.
• Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors and in-house departments to ensure that design intentions are met.
• Confirm Client intentions have been met prior to issuing Tender or Consent documentation
• Maintain accurate records of Client/Project Manager Instructions or changes to the Documents
• Maintain accurate Document Transmittal and Revision records
• To prepare comprehensive and accurate Plans, Specifications and associated documentation to enable Consenting and Construction of projects.
• Undertake comprehensive and accurate site and building surveys as required for the preparation of documentation.
• Ensure building Code, Regional and Local Authority Requirements, standards and regulations are enforced in building design documentation. 
• Prepare and Lodge Building consent applications
• Prepare and lodge Resource consent applications
• Select construction methods and materials in line with Industry Best Practice and company policy.
• Control all project documentation and design changes and copy such information to all concerned.
