Job Description:

Human Connections Group has partnered exclusively with Leslie Groves Society of St Johns (Roslyn), a well-established registered charitable trust providing residential aged care based in the heart of Dunedin City to find them two new Registered Nurses to join their growing team of professionals.

About the Society:
The Leslie Groves Rest Home was established in 1952 by the St. Johns Anglican Church, in a large house in Wakari Road, Wakari, Dunedin. It has been on a journey through starting life as a single-story home to full renovations and a new build most recently. The Society now provides full residential care services at rest home, hospital and dementia levels and is now ready to move to the next chapter in its history.

After 15 years’ service, the Chief Executive has moved on to new adventures. Consequently, Leslie Groves is now embarking on a time of transition and change of path to a new vision. Building on its current foundation, the next chapter is to ensure it is, and consistently performs, at a ‘gold standard environment’ for both residents and staff.

About the roles:
We are seeking two dedicated Registered Nurses to join the friendly teams at Leslie Groves Hospital and Rest Home. You will work alongside Caregivers, House keepers and Kitchen staff on a day to day basis in an environment where you can utilise your skills and experience and continue to grow with ongoing professional development and support available.
Leslie Groves Hospital and Rest Home operate over two sites located in Wakari and Roslyn. The Hospital provides 31 beds for those assessed as requiring hospital level residential care. Residents have large, modern private rooms, with their own ensuites which are ideal for personalising with mementoes and treasures. There are also four palliative care rooms.
The Rest Home provides 34 beds in single rooms with shared ensuites. Individual and group activities are provided daily and planned to make it a fun and interactive environment whilst meeting the needs of all residents.
In these rewarding roles you will assess residents, develop and review care plans in consultation with the resident and their family, and provide compassionate and high-quality care.
Registered nurses supervise resident care 24 hours/day seven days a week at both the Rest Home and Hospital however, you will be supported by a team of dedicated caregivers who work cohesively with you to ensure residents are provided with a ‘gold standard environment’ of care.  The rosters are planned to ensure consistency in location and care for residents so nursing staff and carers can ‘get to know’ residents and add to their daily lives in what is, for each resident, their home environment.

The people:
We are looking for true health professionals, individuals who place a real emphasis on building strong relationships with residents, families and colleagues. Leslie Groves encourage in their new vision to truly create an environment of inclusiveness, family feel and where staff may bond with the residents and families and come to know them well.
You will have a respectful, courteous and compassionate nature and be dedicated to giving 100% at all times to everyone you encounter. You will be resilient and cope well under pressure but most importantly, you will have a passion for working with the elderly. You will be qualified Registered Nurses with a minimum of 1 years’ experience ideally in New Zealand.

Key skills for these roles:
  • Experience using InterRAI is desired but not a prerequisite
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident with the ability to work autonomously
  • Critical thinking
  • Highly organised and pro-active
  • Accurate documentation skills
  • Calm under pressure
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • High attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Committed to professional development
  • Friendly and positive attitude
  • Professional and ethical
Please note that the successful candidates must have current registration with the NZ Nursing Council, an Annual Practicing Certificate, and the ability to work in New Zealand.
