A lot goes into keeping the widespread network of Powerco customers switched on. To maintain a safe, secure and reliable network Powerco will invest more than $1 billion on major network upgrade. There is a vast range of components that make up our commercial relationships and our contracts with our service providers to ensure the right focus on Powerco's strategic objectives. Therefore, we need a commercial savvy professional who manages our commercial arrangements on a day to day bases.

Right now, we're after one such person to join our high-performing Electricity Operations team. Ideally based in New Plymouth (with some travel involved), this is an opportunity to put your relationship and contractual skills to work for a large and successful company in one of the most liveable regions in the world - sound good?

In this role, you'll be a Commercial and Contracts Manager like no other, acting as the owner of the contracts (responsible officer) which includes resolving contractual and commercial problems and focuses on improvements in price, quality, safety, and delivery. You will also ensure our market management policy is set and effectively managed. The objective of this policy is to achieve sustainable competition for field services in regions where multiple contractors can be retained.

Let's talk about you. You've likely got a bachelor's degree under your belt, to go with your additional commercial and/or legal knowledge and have spent a good few years honing those negotiation skills. You may even have some experience from right inside our industry, and be familiar with working for an electrical distribution network - but that's not essential. What we're really after is a doer. If you're proactive, an expert multitasker and thrive when challenged, you'll be a good fit. You'll be known for your superior organisation skills, and are a stickler for detail. Working with multiple stakeholders across the electricity works service, your excellent communication skills will be put to use, as you liaise effectively with people across all levels of the Powerco team. You will establish and maintain strong positive relationships with contractors and demonstrate a collaborative working relationship while ensuring that all internal stakeholders, such as administration, planning, service delivery and finance understands and adhere to our contractual obligations.
