Job Description:

My client is New Zealand's largest privately owned hydraulic engineering company, with branches in Auckland, Christchurch, Melbourne and locally based representatives in Taupo and Brisbane. They specialise in hydraulic system design, specification and component selection, servicing and maintenance of existing plant and equipment. They import products from manufacturers in Europe, USA & Asia to support the local market. They also have a manufacturing division utilising CNC milling machines to produce hydraulic cartridge valve manifold technology. Their goal is to be a successful business by providing the best product support, technical support and customer service in the hydraulic industry.

The Role:
Reporting to their Melbourne Branch Manager and working with the sales team you will be responsible for delivering engineered hydraulic solutions to their customers.
The work is varied and interesting, they have successfully completed projects in appliance manufacturing, construction, water treatment, aerospace, mobile plant, power generation and many others. Occasional travel is required around Australia, New Zealand and possibly Asia Pacific.
This is a hands-on role in a technically challenging field so you will need to demonstrate good engineering skills and the ability to solve complex problems.


Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements :
  • Tertiary qualification in mechanical / mechatronics engineering.
  • At least 5 years experience in the hydraulics (fluid power) industry.
  • Ability to design hydraulic circuits in AutoCad and engineering drawings in Solidworks.
  • Be able to work under pressure to meet the customer demands (overtime work will be required periodically).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Australian driver’s license.
  • Practical hands on skills.
Advantageous :
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and integration of hydraulics & electronics.
  • Selling skills and key account management.
Key Responsibilities :
  • Design, build & commissioning of hydraulic systems.
  • Sales calls to maintain existing relationships and find new customers.
  • Develop our engineering capabilities in Australia.
  • On site fault-finding and testing.
  • Completion of all necessary project documentation.
  • Technical assistance to the sales team.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
