Job Description:

 The Role and opportunity
Te Rarawa are looking for an experienced Financial Controller, to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.
 
The Financial Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa.  This will include, but     not limited to, the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the     accuracy of the Rūnanga reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.​
 
Specifically, the role involves:
  • All aspects of finance and accounting processing and administration
  • IRD, Companies Office, Department of Statistics, ACC returns
  • Timely and accurate production of month-end and year-end reconciliation, forecasting and reporting requirements
  • Reporting and analysis for Senior Management
Your ideal background
  • Proven working experience as a Financial controller
  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • CA (or equivalent) qualified preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
     
About Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa
In 2017 saw the transition Te Rūnanga from a small Charitable Trust to a more complex post-settlement governance entity with several subsidiary organisations:
  1. Te Waka Pupuri Putea: the Asset Holding Company whose primary function is to hold, protect and grow the Iwi assets; and
  2. Te Rarawa Anga Mua: a Social Development trust established to support the intergenerational development of Te Rarawa whānau, hapū and Iwi.
The Rūnanga adopt a long-term strategic plan that the subsidiary entities deliver to through a Statement of Intent.
