The Role:

  • The Head of Property Development NZ will have strong and proven experience in inspiring and leading a commercial property team to drive great outcomes for customers and for the business. You will be tasked with running a key support function in charge of a substaintial capital works budget.
  •  The role will operate across NZ, influencing at senior levels through to the front line. The incumbent will be a Bupa values champion; courageous, open, trusted and respected. Key Responsibilities:

  •  Annual planning to ensure the timely commercial delivery of the BUPA Retirement Villages and Care Homes property development function in NZ aligned to enable customer and business growth.
  • Provide demonstrable leadership and behaviours consistent with the BUPA Values including coaching and mentoring the skills and ambitions of the current development property team.
  • Acquisition and development for Retirement Villages and Care Homes across NZ. Resposible for design, consents, planning, progammming and reporting of all capital works in NZ. The role will involve projects including green field opportunities, existing site redevelopment, major upgrade or major refurbishment work and potential existing business and building acquisiitons.
  • Take full ownership of construction, contracts and commissioning including overseeing the management of main contractors and any internal or external project management resource to oversee all NZ projects, ensuring that BUPA health and safety standards are maintained and reported against.
  • Drive delivery of projects against agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • A customer and employee perspective is essential, as well as excellent cross-functional management skills at a senior level with strength and experience in building and maintaining relationships both internally and externally.

Job Requirements:

This is a senior leadership role and hence you will be able to easily demonstrate experience and behaviours consistent with such a position. Other key requirements include:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience / proven project management track record.
  • Significant business, commercial and financial acumen with a strong customer focus.
  • Expert level experience of successful negotiations, with evidence of having applied innovative thinking, persuasive and negotiating skills and high level strategic planning.
  • A strong understanding of customer experience and customer centricity principles.
  • Experience in working effectively within a matrix style organisation.
  • Proactively takes ownership and acts with integrity to deliver required results.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas simply.
  • A passion for team work, coaching to deliver extraordinary results within the Bupa Values framework.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound demonstrable experience equivalent to supporting senior professionals and large teams.
