Job Description:

Pacific Edge, a global leader in cancer molecular diagnostics, seeks to appoint an IT Systems Administrator based in its Dunedin offices for a fixed term of two years. 

The Company: 

Pacific Edge is a global cancer diagnostics leader, making a positive difference to peoples’ lives through its diagnostic products for bladder cancer. It has certified laboratories in New Zealand and the USA and commercial offices in Australia and Singapore that are supported by world-wide logistics processes and systems that are based in Dunedin. 

The Role: 

This is a full time position, Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, with flexibility. It is based at The Centre For Innovation in Dunedin. The purpose of the role is to provide technical support for both hardware and software issues as directed by the IT Systems Manager. 

The key focus is to manage the IT configuration and operations to support the company’s activities. The monitoring of systems, backup of data, appropriate software revision updates, and resolving help-desk issues are priorities. 

In addition, administration of infrastructure, including firewalls, databases, malware protection software, and other processes; review of application logs; and, training of new staff in bespoke and commercial software applications; installation and testing. 

The Person: 

You must have: 

At least 3 years’ experience in an IT Systems Administration role 

Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience 

Collaboration skills and a willingness to work with, and support, others 

Ability to prioritise and self-manage time effectively 

Accuracy, attention to detail and a high level of initiative 

Strong communication and organisational skills 

Good documentation skills 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Desktop support, including hardware and software 

Establish, maintain and manage user accounts 

Day to day computer and network system operations 

Infrastructure monitoring and response 

Operational backups management 

Upgrades and patching as directed 

Staff IT training 

Maintain help desk and attend to staff issues 

Understand and apply the Company’s relevant policies, procedures and working practices 

Support and promote to company’s commercial aims, objectives and mission 

Carry out administrative duties in a timely and responsible manner 

Relevant Skills

Mac desktop systems 

Windows desktops and Windows server 

Linux servers 

Office365 and other SaaS applications 

Networking products
