Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Trade Account Manager to implement their market development and continued growth strategies.

The role is based in Wellington and covering Taranaki, Manawatu- Manganui and Hawkes Bay regions

Our client is a diverse, privately owned, manufacturing company specialising in the construction and contracting sector. 

They import and distribute products for the construction industry primarily through the building merchant channel.

This role is not for the faint-hearted and will encompass a wide range of responsibilities – from Customer Development to demand generation so you will need broad and well-developed skills especially as a relationship builder and influencer.

The successful applicant will be the catalyst to change the current market dynamics - so must be driven and passionate about their success.

This role would be ideal for someone from a building background who has at least 3 years' experience in sales and now looking to step-up to a more challenging and rewarding position.

You must:
  • Be technical in your approach
  • Have current relationships within either the merchant, residential or commercial sector
  • Be trustworthy and a self-starter
  • Have a proven and successful track record in managing and developing large territories
  • Be successful selling in a highly competitive market
  • Be structured and able to plan your days/weeks well
  • Have a strong attention to detail
  • Be reliable and most importantly able to develop strong and lasting relationships within the sector
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to sell on technical qualities of products and not on price
Key Duties:
  • Calling on Residential and Commercial construction companies to ensure specifications are upheld or to change existing specification and follow up site visits.
  • Calling on Building Merchants to ensure they are following up on quotations and leads and staff training on product range
  • Architects to ensure your products are specified or specification is held against competitor activity.
  • Manage your call cycle across your region effectively
  • Track all projects across the region ensuring you know where each project is sitting regarding specification.
  • Attend and promote during trade events such as breakfasts, Master Builders and Certified Builders meetings etc.
This role will consist of out of town travel and requires someone who can work well autonomously.
