Property Asset I Facilities Manager - Part Time - Semi Retirement Role

An established large private property investment company seeks a responsible person to join their team and assist with the Property/Facilities Management of their property portfolio.

The portfolio is mostly industrial land and buildings.

The person in the role will manage the land and buildings in terms of regulatory compliance, maintenance & repairs, health & safety, security requirements and associated contracts with external service providers.

This is a hands-on position and would suit someone who comes from a property/facilities background, but who may be semi-retired or someone desiring to branch out on their own (and this company can become their major anchor client guaranteeing revenue to cover running cost of the new enterprise for years to come), as it will not be a full-time role. 

The nature of this role will require someone responsible, to be responsive and available when needed; some weeks you might be very busy and others hardly at all.

Experience and knowledge for success in this position:

  • Many years of experience in property/facilities management industry
  • Exposure to recent building and facilities management processes
  • Experience in planning, budgeting and contractor supervision for repair /maintenance works
  • An understanding of building regulatory compliance and consents processes requirements
  • Ability to identifying problems, take responsibility and provide effective solutions
  • Onsite maintenance/ supervisory experience working with electricity, water, drainage and plumbing, roofing, interior fit-out and other trade for building works.
  • Confident communication at all levels, with ability to manage relationships.
  • Initiative to identify potential issues and provide effective solutions
  • Ability to prioritise a workload and to keep projects progressing to meet deadlines
  • Computer literacy: there is administration work integral to this position.
  • Proactive, hands on problem solver
  • Being the eyes and ears of the company

This is not a job for someone who spends all day in the office. It will be a great role for someone who will relish the opportunity to bring their years of experience to add value to this role, but at an enjoyable pace of semi-retirement. Or, someone desiring to branch out on their own will enjoy the opportunity to work with a long-established private property investment company learning all about how successful private business are established.
