Job Description:

Background
Kaynemaile makes unique New Zealand architectural products which are being specified around the world and our growth potential is huge.

We need a creative, talented, hard working Productions Team Leader to keep our production facility humming.  We have a pretty cool and innovative product and we like to think we are a pretty cool team too.

We are looking for the right people to join our team, so understand that talent and experience is only one pre-requisite – team fit is critical.

The Role
The key purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth operation of our production facility.
Predominantly a hands-on and workshop-based role, this position will oversee the day to day operations in the mesh production and workshop areas. You will be working within a small team of production staff and may be required to oversee the production staff’s day to day activities.

For the right candidate, there is a lot of opportunity for growth in the company and for your career.

The Details
By virtue of a small but growing company, this role is broad and varied. The key involvement areas:
General Production – the smooth operation of everything production based is key to this role. You will be involved in all aspects of production.
Quality Control – you will oversee quality control every step of the way to ensure that a first-class product leaves our facility whilst minimising waste
Health & Safety – at Kaynemaile safety of employees is paramount and we have a strong culture.
At a shop floor level, you will be integral to this.
Logistics – you will be involved with inwards and outwards goods, stock management and general freight logistics. This will also involve some supplier communications and relationship management
Plant Maintenance – you will be the first point of call for reactive maintenance, backed up by a team of third party suppliers and contractors where required. You will also develop and manage a robust preventative maintenance program.
Installations – we carry out installations both locally and internationally. From time to time you may be required to travel and be involved in these

The Candidate
We are looking for someone who is a comfortable team leader. You will be someone who is dedicated and takes pride in your work. Culture is important to us and team fit critical. Therefore, ability to communicate clearly with all ages and backgrounds is key.
On a daily basis, you will transition from carrying out leadership, supervisory and sometimes computer- based functions, through to working alongside fellow team members getting hands-on involvement in the factory when required. Again, this is a predominantly hands on role – not an office based one
You will have production environment experience. Mechanical aptitude is important and experience in this area beneficial. We would hope you have had experience in running a small team or be ready to step up and take on more responsibility.

Applicants should possess the following attributes:
  • A “can do” attitude
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Confident and decisive
  • Keen to learn & grow
  • Excellent work place attitude and work ethic
  • Sense of humour
  • Honesty, reliability and good time keeping skills
  • Ability to communicate well with all ages and cultures
  • Good communication skills – written and oral
  • Freight logistics experience
  • Light fabrication experience
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Be able to take direction and work unsupervised
  • Ability to work within a fun team environment
  • Computer literate
  • Full driver’s license required
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally
  • New Zealand residency

Experience in the following not essential but would be a bonus:
Injection moulding machine set-up, running and maintenance
Production facility maintenance experience
Quality Assurance experience
Health and Safety experience

Our approach
Our approach with our customers and team is collaborative. Our brand and our culture are at the heart of everything we do. We are supportive and inclusive and consider all employees opinions. We try to create a fun working environment which we believe goes hand in hand with job satisfaction and productivity. We constantly trial new ideas across our business and aren’t afraid to stumble at times providing we learn and improve. We are a small and engaged team, who are passionate about the company and its growth.

The role offers a chance to use your skills and experience to help grow a great company with a unique product with a genuine New Zealand story and help turn it into a world leading brand.
