Based in in Auckland's CBD, our client is a long established privately owned investment business. They are keen to appoint an Accounts personwho will manage the day to day accounting function and add to the wider business support of the business.

They wish to invite someone to join their small team, who is naturally hard working, has effective time management skills and a strong accounting understanding. What is equally important is a good head for business and appreciation for the impact of "money matters" on a business.

It will require someone with disciplined work practices, who is systems oriented and analytical by nature. One of the challenges in this role is in the detail in which the business needs to operate, which will involve a fair amount of processing work. The right person for this role will be happy starting with the basics to get a full understating of how the business operates, before working on more complex duties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Book keeping for multiple entities (currently eight!) in Xero
  • Prepares financial reports and statements
  • Ensures accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
  • Ensures all tax returns & PAYE are prepared and lodged
  • General ledger activity: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank statement reconciliation
  • Ensures invoices and statement are prepared accurately
  • Administers and monitors operating expenses budget and reconciliations, highlighting variances
  • Operating expense budgets and accruals are reconciled accurately
  • Ensures quarterly and year-end financial summaries are prepared
  • Prepares financial information for Audit and coordinates the process
  • Prepares statement runs for clients
  • Advices Director on any accounts issues that will impact on the business
  • Ensures data management is accurate, secure and backed up
  • Provides support to Office Management / Administration tasks
  • Performs project work and other tasks that support the running of a high performing business


What we require:

  • A strong general accounting understanding and ability
  • Commercial savvy, with keen interest in business and financial matters
  • Strong PC and systems orientation (Strong Excel)
  • Happy with the nitty-gritty and more menial business tasks 
  • Confident communicator, decision making ability
  • Uses initiative, practical, adaptable, enjoys finding solutions
  • 6 - 7 years accounting experience (at least 2-3 years in NZ)
  • Tertiary qualifications are desirable
