Job Description:

Oha Honey Limited Partnership is a 100% New Zealand owned company that specialises in the production of Manūka Honey. With over forty thousand beehives placed in some of the most remote areas of New Zealand, we are dedicated to producing the best Manūka Honey, providing the best customer service and being the best place to work. We take great pride in gathering and sharing this unique taonga (treasure of our land) while we strive to live up to our guiding Ngai Tahū tribal values.

Oha is currently looking for Beekeepers with 0-5 years’ experience to join our newly formed queen rearing team in our New Plymouth branch.  Our queen team will settle for nothing less than the best. Maybe you only have an interest in queen rearing or have recently completed an Apiculture Course and are ready to give commercial queen rearing a go, or maybe you are just looking for a new region to live in, or company to work for as you build on your queen rearing skills?

Your main key performance indicator is your team’s ability to supply the best mated queens and cells which in turn drive the best honey production possible while also improving our queen genetics through top quality breeder queens.  You will also have the opportunity of selling any extra queens to boost income and profitability of your region.  And finally, inside a team of 6, 1 Queen Team Leader, 4 Queen Beekeepers and a cadet, your grafting magic will see the careful management of a total number of 3500 units divided between nucs and parent hives to reach targets set from our apiary team.
