Job Description:

Brand New Senior Pharmacist Position to lead and manage pharmacy support to clinical trials, carried out at Middlemore Hospital.


The Pharmacy Service and Middlemore Clinical Trials is seeking an experienced pharmacist to develop and optimise the pharmaceutical supply and management of investigational agents used within clinical trials run at Middlemore Hospital.


Based within the Operational Service at the hospital pharmacy, this role will work closely with Middlemore Clinical Trials, trial sponsors and monitors, compounding contractors, other pharmacists and research clinicians to provide the required clinical, supply and administrative responsibilities in delivering a high quality pharmacy service to support clinical trials undertaken at Middlemore Hospital. You will also ensure the necessary regulatory and industrial standards are met. The role will also see you providing clinical pharmacy expertise to inpatients and outpatients receiving investigational agents. You will work closely with clinical services such as haematology and other subspecialties engaged in the clinical trials.


In this full time role, the bulk of this position (0.8 FTE) will have responsibilities towards clinical trial service delivery. The balance of the position (0.2FTE) will be worked as a dispensing pharmacist in the hospital pharmacy inpatient service.


You will be provided the relevant training and we will support other relevant courses or training to help you develop your skills and technical knowledge in the area of clinical trials service delivery.


This role offers excellent remuneration, commensurate with skills and experience. Pharmacists with no previous experience but an interest and research and clinical trials may apply.   

  • New Zealand Registered Pharmacist or eligibility to register
  • Positive, proactive and have a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous hospital experience (dispensary or clinical) is preferred but not essential
