Job Description:

Baker/ Breakfast Chef, to offer cooked breakfast and fresh baking to our guests at the Whistling Frog Resort in the heart of the Catlins, South Otago.
Approximate Hours: 7 am to 4pm
This leaves the rest of the day to enjoy the wonderful beaches, surfing, kayaking on the estuaries, hiking to waterfalls and along river trails.

We are looking for positive, professional and energetic people to join our team. Training provided, earn while you learn! Experience is a plus!

We want to help you become a successful part of our team, providing a high quality guest experience, bake a variety of fresh items in the morning, help prepare and cook delicious breakfast meals daily, assist in plating of desserts during service and maintain a clean working environment. 

We are looking for suitable applicants to be a part of our team, working together to provide the best food products to our guests. You must be passionate about providing top quality food and able to work well in stressful situations, serving many guests enjoying the Catlins area.

Job Requirements:

We provide training to help you succeed in the hospitality industry!

We are looking for professionals to start in October and end in late May with 5 years baking and chef experience in the industry. 
Short term entry employment available December- March

A basic overview of your Experienced Baker/ Chef responsibilities:

  • Complete checklists and follow set systems and procedures
  • Open the kitchen in morning and work independently and as part of a team
  • Bake a range of fresh products daily (eg scones, desserts and prepare sandwiches for display) 
  • Have good time management skills
  • Prepare breakfast for guests when required in morning
  • Know our menu in depth, including ingredients used and allergens
  • Strong listening and communicating within the team daily
  • Ensure correct food is prepared and suitable to present to the guest
  • Be able to organise and multi task to ensure verious dish components are ready at the same time
  • Maintain a clean working environment and station
  • In depth kitchen cleaning eg cleaning cooking equipment, dishes and station cleaning
  • Rotating stock and assisting with deliveries
  • Assist in plating of desserts during service
  • Opportunity to learn wood-fired pizza prep and cooking
