Job Description:

Looking for the next step in your career? We are seeking a Lead Professional for our Children’s Team, based at Springs Rd, East Tamaki (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) in South Auckland.

If you enjoy working with children and their whānau, then this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for. The main goals for this role will be to assist in the prevention of harm to vulnerable children and to provide support services to children that have been harmed.

The Lead Professional becomes the main contact for the child and their family/whanau and is supported by the Children’s Team. The Lead Professional responsibilities include:

  • Being the main point of contact for a child and their family/whanau who is likely to already have a number of relationships with different services
  • Making the best quality decisions for the child and putting the child at the centre, ensuring the child’s voice is heard and putting the child’s needs and welfare centre
  • Gathering all the existing assessments and information about the child and using Tuituia as a framework, coordinating the development of one assessment record for that child covering all their unmet needs
Discussing the assessment with the Children’s Team panel and the child and their family/whanau to seek their approval of the assessment and its recommendations
  • Working with the child and their family/whanau and the Child Action Network (children’s workers delivery services to the child) to develop one personalised Child’s Plan to address the identified unmet needs
  • Maintaining accurate, complete and up to date records

The successful candidate will be a clinician that has New Zealand registration and a valid Annual Practising Certificate, in Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Registered Nursing. Our preferred candidate will be someone that lives out our organisational values of Together, Kind, Valuing Everyone and Excellent. This clinician will also be able to confidently prepare the child and whānau for life when they exit from our services. You will therefore need to be highly motivated, a good listener and excellent communicator.

  • Registered Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse, with a valid APC
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Full, clean driver’s licence
  • Previous experience working with children in a Mental Health service
