We have an exciting part time opportunity for an experienced senior RN who has a thorough understanding of pain management to join our Pain Service nursing team.
We are offering this unique role within the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine working alongside our Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialists, senior anaesthetic medical staff and multidisciplinary pain service personnel.
The Pain Service at Counties has diversely interesting and challenging cases. We provide services for a wide range of patients from a variety of different services such across the inpatient spectrum.
We also provide a specialised multidisciplinary approach for patients with complex and/or chronic pain needs across the whole of the DHB’s services, providing advice, support and education to the multidisciplinary teams caring for our patients.
The person appointed to this role will need to demonstrate the ability to contribute their advanced clinical and leadership skills and be part of the multidisciplinary team to improve, develop and integrate services.
Working to the top of the nursing scope will be your aim, with strong developmental drive for yourself and the service essential.
The patient will be at the centre of your drive for excellence and innovation.  To do this, your interpersonal skills will match your strong clinical skills and clinical leadership.
Depending on your skills and knowledge, we are prepared to hire at Specialty Clinical Nurse level and develop and grow you into the CNS position.
  • Registered Nurse with New Zealand Nursing Council
  • At least 5 years recent post-registration experience in a relevant  acute clinical environment (e.g. surgical ward, PACU, HDU)
  • Relevant Postgraduate qualification- commenced or completed
  • Current Practicing Certificate
  • Proficient or Expert level of practice
  • Senior nurse experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Postgraduate papers relevant to pain medicine and/or pharmacology
  • Quality improvement/ project management experience
