About the opportunity: 
Working in close conjunction with the Market Unit Head of Well-being, Health & Safety and reporting to the Director of People Services NZ, you will lead the Health & Safety (H&S) team to deliver H&S consulting services within NZ and continuously improve safe systems of work that result in a great safety culture and excellence in employee wellbeing and engagement. To achieve this, you will work closely with key stakeholders to turn Bupa's WHS strategy into pragmatic and effective operational activity that makes the lives of our people and residents safer and better. 

Within this role you will:Develop and embed a culture of workplace safety in our residences and support offices.
  • Lead a team of H&S specialists to deliver exceptional H&S services for our people.
  • Lead the Bupa construction and development H&S initiatives. 
  • Own and drive the strategic H&S plan to identify and focus on high priority aspects of the Well-being, Health & Safety (WHS) program of work. 
  • Drive prevention initiatives, incident management and reporting. 
  • Manage H&S governance including timely and accurate reporting analysis. 
  • Build really great relationships in order to be able to effectively influence and bring stakeholders along on the journey.
  • Partner with the broader A&NZ H&S team to develop initiatives and insights that drive better outcomes for everyone. 
  • Monitor the external environment and provide timely, contemporary and relevant date and insights.
  • Oversee ACC certification contracts and manage the injury management provider contract.
The successful applicant will have:
  • Senior level consultant, advisory and/or management experience and achievements in H&S in a large and geographically dispersed organisation. 
  • Demonstrated capability in building a great culture of safety and positive employee wellbeing.
  • Experience in effectively leading a team of specialists.
  • Proven track record in the understanding and delivering outcomes compliant with NZ H&S legislation.
  • Demonstrate capability in the broad range of H&S skills from risk and incident management to health and safety programs.
  • Numerate, as well as software proficient. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders including more senior leaders, technical and functional specialists, business facing People Advisers and Consultants, Operational and Line Managers.
