Intern Pharmacists 2021 – Join the Pharmacy of the future!

If you have what it takes to be an excellent clinical pharmacist, then we have one of the best training grounds to help you to achieve this

Middlemore Hospital is a large and progressive tertiary teaching hospital in South Auckland and provides an ideal environment for the training of motivated pharmacy graduates interested in pursuing a career in hospital pharmacy.

We are unique in terms of the diverse population we serve and the associated range of health issues we see on a daily basis. This makes Counties Manukau an exceptional training ground for a pharmacy graduate to become a well-rounded and competent clinical pharmacist. Our pharmacy service has also been frequently recognised as an award-winning provider of innovative and patient-centred care.

You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a number of highly skilled clinical pharmacists and be involved with pharmacists making valuable contributions to the care of patients in a multidisciplinary team. You will also have the opportunity to work within a number of specialities, experience new technologies and models of care in pharmacy, and be a part of our quality and safety focused pharmacy team.

We have 2 fixed term (12 months) Intern Pharmacist positions for 2021 at Middlemore Hospital to provide the opportunity for pharmacy graduates to undertake pre-registration training.

Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, patient focussed and will have a commitment to improving health equity in a diverse population and providing high quality use of medicines. In return, we can offer you an extensive intern program which involves comprehensive and well supported training in the areas of dispensing, medicines information and clinical pharmacy services (including medical, surgical, aged care, emergency care, mental health and other specialties).
