Natureland Wildlife Trust is an outwardly focused community-based zoo and conservation centre based in Sunny Nelson. We are proud to be a safe, affordable, and accessible place for families to engage with animals and bring the wild into Nelson. Located in picturesque Tahunanui, we see our space as a platform for not only our work, but also as a way to share stories about the work that other people and groups are engaged in to protect and restore our native flora and fauna.
We have an exciting career opportunity for an educator/community engager. Ideally, we are looking for someone with a teaching qualification and a keen interest in conservation and community engagement. The role will be responsible for delivering inspiring education sessions to visitors to the zoo including schools, businesses, and community groups. The role will also involve outreach education and community engagement, in order to raise the profile of Natureland and our conservation work.
This is an autonomous role and will require some flexibility in days and hours worked. It will require a combination of onsite education, resource and programme development, and outreach community engagement. The role is also fully responsible for running our keeper kids school holiday programme, including, marketing, administration, resource development and delivery. Alongside excellent communication skills, time management and prioritizing skills, you will need to have a good sense of humour and enjoy working as part of a flexible, hardworking team.
If you are passionate and enthusiastic about education and conservation, then apply today. We offer a small but close knit and friendly team who are dedicated to maintaining our positive standards of animal welfare, and sharing our work with others.
