WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

A talented experienced ecologist to lead our high performing and motivated Ecology Team in our Wellington office.

A person who has a commitment to providing fit-for-purpose information to support good decisions and is a strategic thinker who relishes working at the interface between evidence and decision making.

Someone who puts people first, values diversity, and enjoys leading a team to develop and grow.

MUST HAVE:

  • Consultancy experience (desirable).
  • Strong New Zealand ecology knowledge.
  • Experience in ecological effects assessments, management and restoration of natural areas.
  • Ability to think strategically, and work proactively towards Wildlands Strategic vision.
  • Passion and commitment to excellent leadership with proven people management skills.
  • An understanding of where to focus your team's efforts, how to play to people's strengths.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to build productive working relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Experience in working with ambiguity and dealing with complex problems.
  • An understanding of the importance of other knowledge bases and information sources (including mātauranga Māori).
  • A post-graduate qualification in ecology. In particular, good knowledge and experience of New Zealand botany and plant ecology, restoration biology and ecological management or expertise in another field of ecology.
