A great opportunity has become available at Distinction Rotorua Hotel for someone experienced in Conferencing to join our fun & friendly team.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing multiple events ranging in size and occasion.
  • Working with various departments and suppliers to ensure the clients. expectations are exceeded.
  • Conduct site inspections for potential clients.
  • Actively respond to enquiries, following up on business to assist in achieving revenue targets.
  • To coordinate and communicate in a professional and ethical manner with colleagues assisting where necessary to develop team spirit and to achieve standards of work and guest care as required by company.
  • Support with administration and operational duties for the Food & Beverage department as requested
  • To attend briefings/meetings as requested and to recognise the importance of new ideas and initiatives to the overall success of the operation.
  • Assist Banquets Team when required.
  • Maintain all department equipment to the correct standard.
  • A positive and professional appearance and attitude in all dealings with both internal & external customers
  • With each conference & event, check room & requirements, making sure everything is in working order, prior to clients arrive. Meet & Liaise with conference organisers / PCO’s and confirm daily timings. Follow up with catering to make sure each session is organised in a timely manner.
  • You may be required to represent Distinction Hotels at trade shows, seminars & promotional activities / events as required

Flexibility in your hours of work is required as they can involve any hours from Monday to Sunday & including holiday periods as required by business demand and client availability 


Job requirements

our skills and experience will include: Previous experience in a similar role preferred Knowledge of CMS program or other PMS an advancage High level of knowledge & skill with computers, e-mails & Microsoft Office Software Exceptional communication & presentation, and remember that attention to detail! Proven ability to multi-task and problem solve. A high level of organisation and time management skills. Hospitality or Events qualifications will be well regarded. Ability to work both independently and within a team A current Managers Licence or LCQ would be a bonus but not essential High level of both oral and written English language This role involves both desk & floor based work.
