ABOUT THE COMPANY
With the opening of the New Zealand borders in July, international tourism on the West Coast is experiencing a reawakening. A very busy summer awaits.

Our client, is preparing for the return of overseas guests and we need you to apply for these important roles. You will be joining a cohesive and supportive team of 50 hotel staff in a stunning location. The hotel has 50 bedrooms and is highly rated by previous guests.

The hotel is located in a small settlement between Westport and Greymouth, there is a pub, cafe & i-site in town. On your doorstep you will find multiple recreation options including, biking, tramping, fishing, swimming, kayaking, adventure caving & photography. If you love the outdoors and wish to escape the city life this is the perfect location for you.

Local townships are a thirty minute drive away. This is where you will find banks, a post office, supermarket, pharmacy and doctors etc.  Whilst a car of your own is ideal so you can explore all that the region has to offer, lifts to town can easily be arranged. The Intercity bus passes through daily.

As a member of the front of house department, you will provide the first contact with the hotel guests. Guests usually direct their requests, enquiries and complaints to the Duty Manager that is expected to find a solution to such problems. You will help any guest’s enquiries that front desk staff or other outlet staff are unable to solve and provide quick and high quality of services to our guests. You must have professional attitude towards guests and other visitors at any time.
  
You will also be responsible for maintaining standard of sales and service given in outlets in Senior Management’s absence as well as balancing of floats and banking. This may or may not include actively working in restaurant or bars, therefore a good operational knowledge of restaurant and/or bar service, & ideally NZ food and wine, is of utmost importance.
  
You will be the Hotel Manager during Senior Management’s absence. Any guest complaints, staff issues and concerns or general enquiries that requires the General Managers attention is referred to the Hotel Duty Managers. 
  
They must possess sufficient knowledge of both hotel and local facilities for guests and guest’s enquiries, and ensure that allocation requests, guarantees are met & Special requests are followed through.

This is a Fulltime Permanent role and includes working weekends and public holidays as required.
    
WHAT YOU'LL BRING WITH YOU
We are seeking an experienced candidate who has an understanding of all aspects of hotel operation in particular food and beverage service. 
  • Proven experience as Hotel Duty Manager with experience in front office and food & beverage (restaurant & bar service)
  • Knowledge of other languages will be very helpful
  • Understanding of all hotel management
  • Maintain a manager license for New Zealand
  • Maintain a clean and full Driver License for New Zealand
  • Maintain a First Aid Certificate
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and Hotel Software Programmes
  • 3 years of experience with management software
  • Motivation to exceed customer expectations at all times
  • Great decision making and problems solving skills
  • Good leadership skills
  • Ability to motivate staff
  • Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or relevant field
  • Strong financial skills
