Base $150K + quarterly bonuses = OTE $190K

Job description

Our client is a large global sales organisation, offering market leading professional services and best in class SAAS solutions to businesses across New Zealand.  With a track record of over 30 years, they have made their mark establishing themselves as a leader of their industry and with continued investment in digital innovation, they have created solutions that bring together the tools, systems, and expertise to support businesses with Employee Relations and Health and Safety in the workplace. Something that is so fundamental to business success and if neglected can be very costly and end up causing business owners a whole pile of stress.

They are currently strengthening their New Zealand leadership team and are looking to appoint a National Sales Manager, to drive the performance of the New Zealand field based, business development team.

This is a hands-on role, which will suit an experienced, people-centric sales leader, who understands how to coach and motivate a high-performing sales team and will relish working within the framework of a successful global organisation.

The Role:

  • Hold overall responsibility for the team’s performance 
  • Coach and mentor sales teams to ensure KPIs and targets are met
  • Hold training workshops and coaching sessions to improve teams’ overall sales skills
  • Ensure the team are aligned to the company’s processes
  • Perform joint sales calls, to be able to provide meaningful, real time, one-on-one coaching.
  • Review sales and performance data to identify skill gaps and area that need improvement
  • Prepare management reporting and add value to management meetings
  • Provide training around specific sales techniques to reduce any performance barriers
  • Involvement in staff recruitment and a strong focus on staff retention and growth.
  • Performance management and / or working through any escalating team issues
  • Become a valued and contributing member of the senior leadership team.


  • Professional Sales Leader, with proven sales management experience, across large sales teams (8+ years) 
  • Previous experience managing large (10+) field-based, Business Development sales teams 
  • Is equipped to have motivational, coaching conversations, that positively drive performance 
  • Focuses on cultivating a culture of high achievement and accountability
  • Builds trust and respect within the team. Understands them. Motivates and Challenges them!
  • Results driven: Strives for productivity, growth, and repeated success
  • Takes accountability for achieving sales targets
  • Ability to analyse and interpret sales metrics
  • Previously working within a B2B sales environment and managing BDMs

They will be results driven, demonstrating a strong ambition to drive all sales opportunities, with a focus on growth, engagement, and retention.
