About the opportunity:

Our client has an amazing opportunity for a Site Reliability Engineer to work within their team in Dunedin or Wellington. The business has a variety of ongoing projects and technical ability. Our client will work with you to find projects and tasks that fit with your skill set and desired paths of growth going forward. 

Role description:

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you are responsible for being the bridge between development and operations within our client's organisation. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Fixing support escalations where required
  • Building software to help organisation and support teams
  • Assisting non-technical staff to achieve goals with systems
  • Having a continual drive to identify and implement system improvements to maximise service availability
  • Communicating effectively to enable understanding of technical concepts internally and by customers.

This role will suit someone with all or some of the following background/experience/qualities:

  • 2+ years' experience solving server performance issues and optimisation including systems monitoring
  • Fluent in writing code with experience coding in a popular coding language
  • Hands-on experience in administering large-scale SaaS applications in one of the major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with SQL Database administration, like PostgreSQL (preferred) or MySQL
  • Solid diagnostics skills with the ability to troubleshoot
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
