Job description

Our expanding company is seeking a experience dressmaker/Tailor to work full time permanent with our team in our busy alteration shop.

We are looking for a great team player who can take initiative and really own this role. The employer is very flexible and allows you to set your own timetable within reason.

Due to the nature of the work, we require a minimum of 5years practical experience in this field of expertise, qualification such as a certificate or diploma in sewing or dressmaking is an advantage.

• Provide a range of seamstress services, including but not limited, to the following:
  • Alteration of gowns, formals, Suits
  • Assisting customer fitting and give advice and recommendations
  • Measure and size for made to measure dress.
  • Contribute to company innovations.
  • Ensure maintenance of all sewing machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of fabric and trims.
  • High Standard workmanship is a must.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement of services, processes, and systems.
• Participation in evaluation and ongoing monitoring of services, processes, and systems.
• Tangible improvements to the quality and commercial nature of information, speed, and effectiveness in delivery to support business objectives.

Knowledge and experience in operating industrial sewing machines fast and efficiently is required due to the high volume of outfits requiring alterations each week, which have time-restrictions.

The ideal candidate should be able to work 30+ hours per week at our alteration shop at Dressmaker and alterations Ltd T/A Quickfit Alterations Christchurch city centre. The pay rate for this job starts at $27.76-$29.00 per hour depends on your experience and performance.

The ideal candidate will become an addition to our current team of tailors and work collaboratively.
