Multiple opportunities have arisen for Marine Engineers based in the Engineering division in Havelock, where no two days are the same. These are full-time permanent positions working from 08:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. You will be required to be on call, according to a roster.

In this role, you will be responsible for building, installing, and maintaining engines, pumps, and other pieces of technical equipment in the plant and vessels for the Farming division. You will need to fabricate, assemble, position, and align parts and machine components. There will be a requirement to service and troubleshoot issues with machines and parts, as well as the rebuilding of engines and gearboxes.

You will have the opportunity to put your skills as a machinist to work as well as utilize your welding and hydraulic design and repair skills. You will be responsible for the machine shop, data entry onto Workmate and to provide maintenance services with the rest of the Marine Engineering team to the Farming Support Services Division. You will work closely with Skippers and crew and review equipment and machinery and create innovative solutions.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Advantage if Degree qualified in relevant technical discipline (not necessary if you have the right experience)
  • Previous Marine Engineering or Maintenance Engineering experience
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and ability to learn and develop
  • Problem solving skills using analytical thinking and lean tools to diagnose breakdowns and implementing short / medium term solutions that solve the identified root cause
  • Flexible in your working day, ability to be on call when needed
  • Other qualifications you might have are Forklift license, Working at Heights, Chemical Handling, Confined Spaces and First Aid Certificates
  • Able to navigate a computer and other devices
