For many years, our client has been supplying New Zealand's food and beverage processing industries, with capital equipment and machinery. They have the widest range of food process and packaging equipment on offer, represent agency lines, as well as used equipment, and services around asset management, enabling them to service a very wide range of food processing industries. They are going through a phase of growth and are looking to build a motivated team to support this.

About the Role:

We have rather a unique role to fill, that requires an ambitious, motivated, technically savvy person, to perform a position that covers Technical Sales, organizing Projects and over time could grow to involve the Operational Management of the company. 

The company has a plan to reward commitment and hard work and for the right person a shareholding opportunity could be realised.

Right now, we are looking for someone who will invest their energy into driving sales opportunities and developing strong business relationships with key clients. They will assume overall responsibility for organizing all on-site client projects, while supporting the Sales and Asset Management teams.

We are looking for someone preferably with a background in the Food and Beverage Processing industry, with a strong technical sales background, who will enjoy being hands-on in running projects, as well as focusing on driving operational excellence and quality of service.

The Role more specifically:

  • Manage relationships with major clients and develop on-going business relationships
  • Sell in services around asset management & removal of plant equipment
  • Develop sales opportunities for new and used equipment
  • Support the wider team in sales projects including preparation of quotes, drawings, and other processes.
  • Plan onsite client work, including organising sub-contractors to undertake installations, commissioning, any removal, relocation or reconfiguring of equipment.
  • Ensure projects are completed  and service levels are upheld
  • Prepare project costings and then ensure budgets are met.
  • Overall review of the project while it is running. (2x Weekly site visits)
  • Proactive business development & promotion to targeted clients, in NZ and overseas.
  • Maintain communication with business relationships, manage contractor relationships.
  • Ensure sales opportunities for new equipment service, spares or other items are not missed
  • Work closely with Senior Sales Engineer, and other team members on all aspects of the projects
  • Manage client communications, especially around equipment, which has long lead times, or that requires specific specifications or modifications.


 What we require in you:

  •  Sales experience from the food & beverage process & packaging industry
  • Project Management experience and wider operational management skills
  • Strong sales ability. Can put together a deal that works for all parties
  • Strong business acumen and a good understanding of profitability
  • Strong technical ability (Mechanical or engineering background beneficial)
  • Strong time management skills. Proactive and results oriented
  • Problem solver and an all-round trouble shooter.
  • Works well under pressure and to deadlines
  • Some supervisory experience
  • Confident systems experience across MS Word, Excel, MS Project, 
  • Excellent commercial relationship building skills
