Category Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated Category assistant to join our Category management team in our National support office located at Mangere, Auckland.

You will be reporting to the Category Manager with overall reporting to GM – Category Management. This is a full time permanent role.

The job:
As our Category Assistant you will be assisting and supporting the Category Managers and Key Senior Stakeholders in their decision making. You will be responsible for all category analysis, identify any potential opportunities and provide relevant recommendations to achieve business objectives. This role will particularly focus on the categories such as and not limiting to Meat, Poultry, Small goods, Seafood, Dairy, Ice Cream and Frozen Potato related products. 

Some of the key tasks include: 

1. Category analysis - analyse business and market trends to provide insights and recommend new strategies
2. Deep dive analysis in categories, identify opportunities and propose possible solutions to improve ranging as well as margin
3. Process price increases, analysis impacts and provide recommendation of potential alternatives
4. Monitor and forecast of data – assist in sales and profitability of categories through data analysis
5. Provide recommendations 
6. Assist in preparation of customised reports 
7. Manage monthly promotional loading and claims-back process 

The person: 

Our ideal candidate will have 

• A tertiary qualification in business or professional qualification in the relevant area 
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an analytical or similar role 
• Strong analytical skills with a solution oriented approach to problem solving
• Advanced level at Excel and Microsoft with good knowledge of ERP systems
• Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of employees
• Relationship focused (internal & external) and action orientated 
• Team player with strong focus and work ethics
• Remains calm under pressure
• Positive, Can-do Attitude
