Positions available: 6 to 10

Employment Type (terms):  Permanent, Full-time, Paid weekly

Days and Hours of work: 40 hours per week guaranteed, Monday to Friday with overtime available for extended hours or weekend work.

Hourly Rate: Between $28 and $38 per hour (base rate) based on previous experience and qualifications. Overtime is paid at a higher rate.

Job Description (key tasks and responsibilities):

• Receive instructions and report to the Foreman and Workshop Manager
• Carry out fabricating, fitting and/or welding as required
• General workshop engineering, and equipment maintenance
• Accurate and tidy completion of your own time sheets, job sheets, and other documentation
• Maintain and support a healthy, safe, and respectful environment
• Communicate respectfully to customers and give explanations as required

You will have a practical, common-sense approach. You will be comfortable dealing with a wide range of personalities and be positive about health and safety. You will be expected to understand and sign onto safety systems and undertake required inductions and paperwork. There will be opportunities to increase your skillset and qualifications while on the job.

Pre-requisites:

• Legal right to work in NZ (residency or a relevant work visa)
• Experience working with steel and aluminium welding / fabricating / fitting
• A commitment to safe work practices

The following would be an advantage to include in your application:

• Relevant trade qualifications
• Experience in a marine/shipyard environment
• An ability to work accurately within tight time constraints, in many cases unsupervised
• Good written and spoken communication skills.
• Capacity to work overtime as needed
• Strong problem-solving abilities, and a can-do attitude
• A passion for getting their hands dirty
• A sense of pride in being organised, tidy and busy
